Lauren McNeil was narrowly edged out in a race for the line at the Canada West Cross Country Championships by 0.2 seconds. Having led for most of the race, Lauren took the silver medal in 28:43.6 and helping the University of British Columbia to the silver team medal; their first ever medal in the championships.

Lauren won the Canada West Female Rookie of the Year award and was named in the Canada West First Team All-Stars for finishing in the top 7.
