Longley Park
The SEG organised a very successful opening fixture in the South Yorkshire Cross Country League. A large turn out of senior athletes and other HHS members to set out and marshal the course ensured that the event ran smoothly.
Euan Patton took advantage to win the U17 race with a fast final lap. Euan covered the 6k course in 23.14.
Chris Law paced the senior men’s race well to move into the lead on the second lap, opening a significant gap and winning in 29:59. Euan Brown finished well to take 5th place in 21:33. Thomas Harrison was 11th in 33.03, closely followed by Christian Battersby in 12th in 33.06. Jonah Patton was 3rd U20 in 17th with 33.38. Ryan Griffiths was 26th in 34.32 and Josh Parthadil 32nd in 35.32. Seb Muscroft finished 7th U20 and 35th overall in 35.51. Jon Slate, running his first cross country for a significant time, was 2nd V50 in 36.35 (42nd overall).Rob Wapshott was 56th in 37.32 and Gareth Phoenix 85th in 39.53.
In the senior women’s race, Eve Pannone moved through on each lap to finish 6th and 2nd U20 in 24.32. Shen Wigfield-Turner was 4th U20, 8th overall, in 24.37. Nicky Squires was 10th in 24.58, Ellie Crownshaw 15th in 26.08 and Georgie Offer 25th in 28.11.
Thanks to everyone who turned out to help in setting up, marshalling and taking down the course. It showed a great team spirit and contributed to a very successful day.
